Program

Spend an inspiring, challenging, and joyous week with others who share a passion for swing. The B.C. Swing Workshop provides a friendly, non-competitive environment for every one from swing-novices to more seasoned players. Our program provides an extensive selection of seminars, workshops, and organized band labs to help you grow as a musician. Our enthusiastic and experienced instructors are chosen for their skill as leaders,  as well as their abilities as performers.

Workshop check-in is the afternoon of Sunday, August 10th. When you arrive, we'll help you find your accommodation. Plan to give yourself time to settle in before the ORIENTATION at 4:00 pm. At that time there will be short PRESENTATIONS from all of the instructors to help you decide which class is best for you.

All participants are invited to the opening night burger BARBEQUE. After dinner you will meet with your instructor for a short INTRODUCTORY SEMINAR to get you started. Later, we'll all meet for a brief presentation before you head off to join one of several organized jam sessions.

MORNINGS

Every morning you will have a 1 1/2 hour to 2/hrSEMINAR with your instructor. Late mornings will be saved for a few special classes and time to jam or just relax.

AFTERNOONS

After lunch you will be able to choose from a wide range of workshops that will extend your appreciation of the wonderful range of music encompassed by “swing”. Later in the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to try out your new chops in BAND LAB where you will receive expert coaching from instructors. On the other hand, you may want to put on your DANCING shoes and learn nifty moves from one of our incredible swing dance teachers.

EVENINGS

Evenings are filled with SPECIAL INTEREST presentations, SWING DANCES, a STUDENT CONCERT, and time to practice or JAM, both in organized sessions and on your own with new musical friends.
